Like most North American smart thermostats, the Ecobee series requires a dedicated 24VAC power supply. However, standard air conditioning units in Dubai (such as those in Downtown, Marina, and JVC) operate on high-voltage 220Vā240V Fan Coil Units (FCU).
Attempting to wire an Ecobee directly into a standard UAE wall box without conversion will cause immediate short circuits and destroy the thermostat.
